Approach & Objective
This is the entry level to rugby and everything we do is underpinned by the RFU core values of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline and sportsmanship. Every week, we shall work very hard to ensure the children understand these as they are core to rugby. At the core, it needs to be fun and all children need to be involved a maximum of the time. This is why we do not do individual drills that focus on just a few players (whilst the other ones are standing around and watching): everyone must be involved!
The goals for this season are

• to be able to run with the ball in front in both hands (ready to pass)
• to be able to pass and catch (for U8 backwards)
• to understand the concept of going forwards
• to understand the concept of scoring a try
• to be able to tag with both hands. (For U8s and retreat onside)
• when without the ball, to understand how to best support the ball holder (where to stand, how to call for the ball etc..)

All this is achieved through purposeful games that aim to be as fun as they are practical.

When & Where
U8 Minis sessions will usually be run 11 – 12 (although we ask that you arrive 10 mins beforehand to get ready) on the closest pitch to the clubhouse at the far end on the pitch.
There is no parking at the clubhouse however there is significant road parking on the road between the club and the yellow storage company.
